NSYSU Dragon Boat Team joins City Cup International Dragon Boat Championship
November 3-4, 2018 – On the first weekend of November, the City Cup International Dragon Boat Championship was held at Lotus Lake in the beautiful city of Kaohsiung. Dragon boat has been popular in Taiwan, as they say, it’s not just a sport, it has become a tradition. The event has been attended and participated by local and foreign countries including Singapore, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, United States, and a lot more. And one of the participants in this event is our very own NSYSU Dragon Boat Team.
The NSYSU Dragon Boat Team, led by their coaches Michal Ryznar from GHRM MBA Program, Noah House, and Remco Peters from GHRM MBA Program, supported by International Program Student Association vice president –Izabella Dobrowolska from IBMBA Program, is one of the top performers of the said competition. They are against other student and professional dragon boat racers who came all the way from different countries. The group participated in two categories: 200-meter and 500-meter race. They may not have brought home the bacon but there’s one thing they are surely proud of: they have shown their opponents and audience how competitive NSYSU team is.
“I am proud of my team. We are composed of experienced and new rowers who haven’t touched a paddle before.” said their head coach, Michal. The team is composed of exchange students and degree students from GHRM MBA and IBMBA Program. “Two months of practice, yet an exceptional performance was showed. All thanks to the dedication of my members and for the school spirit showed by NSYSU students who proudly cheered for my team. And huge thanks to Hana Ting (coordinator from the Office of International Affairs who helped us for all the administrative works”, Michal added.
The NSYSU Dragon Boat team will be competing on June next year for the Dragon Boat Festival to defend their title in the traditional boat category.
