IBMBA Student - Nguyen Thi Thuy (Kylie) presented an academic paper at 2022 International Conference on Economic Development and Business Management (ICEDBM)

Nguyen Thi Thuy (Kylie) has enrolled in our IBMBA since September 2021 and has been actively working on her research with Nguyen Tuan Duong, a Ph.D candidate in the College of Management, NSYSU, to develop their research paper "Does human capital enhance students' perceived employability? A study on Vietnamese university students during the Covid-19 pandemic."

On May 28th, 2022, Kylie has presented her research at 2022 International Conference on Economic Development and Business Management (ICEDBM), which was organized by College of Management, Nanhua University (Taiwan) in cooperation with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) (India), Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), Faculty of Labor Relations and Trade Unions, Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam), and ESPAE Graduate School of Management (Ecuador).

Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the conference must be changed to an online mode. However, it is still such a pleasure for Kylie because she met many international scholars from different fields, schools, and countries. Especially for her, the panel "Knowledge Management" was impressive as she could learn more about Artificial Intelligence, E-learning Systems, and Knowledge Sharing. After the presentation, she listened carefully to comments and suggestions from the chair, the discussant, and other researchers. It was such an honor for a Master's student like her.

Kylie first thought to propose a topic related to self-perceived employability in January 2021 during the pandemic, and she asked for Nguyen’s help to guide her to execute a more empirical study focusing on university students in their country - Vietnam. Conducting research during the special times of the Covid-19 pandemic, two researchers hope to find out the impact of human capital on perceived employability to help students have more chances to be employable after graduation.

"Writing this paper means a great deal to me because from the findings, we can give suggestions for both students and higher educational institutions to reduce the unemployment rate in Vietnam, especially after the challenging situation from the pandemic," said Kylie. She was so passionate about her study that she paid all of her attention to analyzing and completing her writing. Hard work pays off! Finally, her paper was accepted to present at the 2022 ICEDBM.

"This is my first time attending an international conference. It was challenging but worthwhile because I had the opportunity to learn new things and gain more experiences related to conducting research. I would love to have more such chances in the future." – shared Kylie.

It is undoubtedly a memorable conference experience for Kylie, a master’s student in international business major, and we congratulate her again on her presentation!
