Management Information System in Linguistic field
Mr. Greve Edward visited the Management Information System class and had a lecture with students on Thursday, 7th January 2021 with an interesting and practical topic on applying information systems in the linguistic field.
Mr. Greve Edward, his Chinese name is 高安詠, has a big interest in and love with linguistic, especially Taiwanese. In his speech, he demonstrated his expert knowledge of Taiwanese in term of understanding of development history and application.
Mr. Edward has been spending more than ten years learning and researching Taiwanese. He expects to create a system that can help people type Taiwanese and retrieve the source of Taiwanese words that have various versions during their history of development and transformation. As a foreigner with more than living and working in Taiwan, Mr. Edward has attempted to reserve and developed the traditional language of this beautiful and peaceful island. By studying the local language, we can discover and learn about the history, culture, and a lot of beautiful things about a place. Besides, with the professional and experience of a software engineer, Mr. Edward is developing some information-technology-related products that help people study and communicate in Taiwanese. He is also a famous Youtubers with a channel of more than 13,000 subscribers - 阿勇台語 Aiong Taigi – where has a lot of videos of how to study Taiwanese.
Mr. Edward is an exemplary model for the young generation who can apply technological advances in studying and innovatively preserving traditional values. From his talk, students can recognize that the world is becoming non-barrier for studying and acquiring knowledge as long as you know how to manage the huge information in this world.
